Signature Career Management receive a high volume of applications and it isn’t always possible to respond to every application. Although you may feel that you are suitable on paper, some clients have very specific requirements that cannot all fit into a job advert. As a recruitment consultancy, we generate revenue by placing candidates; rest assured that if we think that your application is anyway suitable to the detailed requirements outlaid by our clients, we will explore that option. A good rule of thumb is that if you have not been contacted within 3 working days of application, you have unfortunately not ben shortlisted for the role.

Signature Career Management would recommend that wherever possible, a business would utilise only one recruiter to undertake search work. A single recruiter adopting a search & selection methodology will have far more success at attracting talent as well as covering the market than several recruiters working against each other would have. Unfortunately, the recruitment industry has been slow to catch up with the pace of change of candidate requirements so cost-focused contingency recruitment still dominates large swathers of the employment industry. Change will only happen when hiring organisations demand better from recruiters.

Traditionally, recruitment agencies charge for the ‘introduction’ of a successful candidate. This usually means that on the day that a new candidate starts within a role, the agency that introduced that candidate to the business will charge for that introduction. In some circumstances a recruitment consultancy will charge a proportion of the expected fee upfront before the search work commences. This demonstrates from the client a commitment to working with just one agency as well as signalling their intent to hire. This approach enables the consultancy to adopt a higher quality and more detailed approach but requires a mutual trust between hiring organisation and the consultancy.

A good recruitment agency will bridge the gap between the hiring organisation and the wider job space and should ultimately provide greater access to talent. Utilising a quality-driven recruitment agency will provide businesses with market insight, salary benchmarking, skills advice, and then enable them to extend the reach of their employer brand so that they can attract candidates to their opportunities. They should then be able to match candidates to the opportunity of the business and fully manage the process to maximise the chance of success throughout a hiring process.

How long is a piece of string!? This is dependant on a lot of variables; the quality of the approach, the challenges of the market, the size of the talent pool, the salary that is being paid, the attractiveness of the opportunity, the flexibility of the hiring business, and the biggest variable of all… the people who you are approaching. A specialist recruitment consultancy will be better positioned to manage all of these elements and will have the insight to make informed decisions that enable a timely conclusion to a campaign. As a rule of thumb, a quality-driven recruitment consultancy will aim to have an opportunity that is set with realistic expectations to be filled within a 6-week period.

Signature Career Management provide bespoke campaigns for their clients which can cover many aspects of recruitment including; market insight, salary benchmarking, skills advice, employer brand augmentation, diversity and inclusion support, psychometric testing, interview and assessment advice and employee retention support.
