Meet the Team - Lawrence Maxfield

Having handled all recruitment processes internally in my previous career, I saw firsthand how time consuming it can be and not allow me to focus on other aspects of running a busy restaurant. I want to take the stress off busy companies, make their life easier, and help them out.

Before joining Signature, my career was hospitality, hospitality, and then a bit more hospitality. I started when I was 15, worked my way up the ladder and left most recently as a General Manager of a fine dining restaurant. A lot of busy nights slaving away in a hot kitchen and bank holidays spent shaking 100s of cocktails!

Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, a nice Sunday morning walk, and of course a good drink whilst watching the football.

More About Lawrence

A moment I was star-struck- Working in fine dining I’ve served some celebrities in my time, most notably for me was John Stones, as a big football fan was great to have a chat with him and realise how down to earth he is!

One thing I’m recently proud of- Since starting the gym consistently, I’ve lost over a stone, as well as starting a whole new career challenge, a scary move, I think!

What motivates me to come to work each day- Honestly, I want to get the kitchen renovated, call me boring, but as an avid food lover and ex-chef, this is a key driver for me!

What are your hobbies outside of work- Watching and playing football, going to the gym, and a chilled glass of wine. Most of the time in that order, subject to change.

Death row meal- Starter- Something like a Japanese-style deep-fried shrimp. Main- A perfectly cooked steak, medium-rare, with the perfect thick-cut chips. Dessert- Limoncello Cheesecake. Drink- Wine, just wine. For me, I just like simple food done well, it doesn’t need to be fancy.

Recommend a book/podcast/film- Not a massive film lover, so I’m going off script with a series- either The Office- US or more recently Adolescence.

Secret Talent- Honestly, I don’t really have much to brag about, few drinks down, and I’ll do a decent James Blunt karaoke, however.

What’s the first thing you bought with your own money? Some FIFA points, every teenage boy’s dream at the time. Wouldn’t want to think about how much money I wasted on that.

If you could get a new skill in 10 minutes, what would it be?-Would love to be able to play the piano, would be interesting, I think.
